Dr. Ina Jain

Ophthalmologist | Artist | Activist

Dr. Ina Jain is the founder of An Eye For Art, a platform born out of passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to empowering women artists.

After a fulfilling and successful 30-year career as an ophthalmologist in Delhi—specialising in eye and facial reconstruction surgeries—she found an unexpected opportunity to step away from medicine during the COVID lockdown. This gave her the chance to finally embrace her childhood love for art, turning it into her full-time pursuit.

Having survived years of domestic abuse, she made the bold decision to leave her past behind, moving to a completely different part of the country, alone, without any support system. It was here that she found peace, tranquillity, and a new purpose—not just in her art but in helping other women rise.

Rafath

Meet Rafath – Strength in Every Stitch

Rafath’s story is one of quiet resilience and unbreakable courage. Married off at just 16 to a man 20 years older—who was already married—she became a mother at 17 and endured 17 long years of severe domestic violence. Eventually, with sheer determination and four young children in tow, she walked away from the abuse and began her fight for survival and dignity.

I met Rafath through the Shaheen Women’s Resource and Welfare Association, where her story touched me deeply. Despite her circumstances, she holds her head high and supports her family through the traditional skill of hand embroidery. But even here, her struggle continues—middlemen often exploit her work, leaving her with barely enough to make ends meet. Her underage son has taken up work to help bridge the gap, robbing him of his own childhood.

By featuring Rafath’s work on this platform, my aim is to support her artistry directly—free of exploitation. Every stitch she embroiders tells a tale of endurance, love for her children, and the spirit of a woman who refused to be broken.

Let’s give her the recognition and fair compensation she deserves. Your purchase doesn’t just support a craft—it empowers a woman, protects a family, and restores dignity.

Pallabi Debnath

Meet Pallabi Debnath – Painting Beyond Limits

At just 15, Pallabi Debnath is a shining example of talent, resilience, and quiet determination. Born with a physical disability—only her left hand functional—Pallabi picked up her brush a few years ago and began painting with watercolours and acrylics, almost entirely self-taught and with very limited means.
Her art is full of heart and hope.

Despite her challenges, Pallabi excels in her studies and dreams of becoming a civil servant one day—to serve and uplift others. She comes from a humble background, but her parents are her strongest support, encouraging her every step of the way.
I’ve had the privilege of helping her hold small exhibitions and sell some of her work.

Now, with your support, she can reach greater heights. Every painting you buy from her contributes to her journey—not just as an artist, but as a girl chasing a dream bigger than herself.

Support Pallabi. Encourage her gift. Help her soar.

The Women of Shaheen

Craftswomen

Weaving Hope, One Stitch at a Time

At Aneyeforart, we are proud to work with a group of resilient and inspiring young women from Shaheen Women’s Resource and Welfare Association, a grassroots organization supporting abused and marginalized women and girls.

These girls, many of them survivors of domestic violence or forced into oppressive situations, are on a courageous journey — reclaiming their dignity, building skills, and creating independent lives. I have been teaching them the beautiful, traditional craft of crochet, a meditative art form that not only gives them a creative outlet but also equips them with a means to earn a livelihood.

Each handcrafted item they make is a testament to their strength, patience, and determination to carve a place for themselves in the world. Through their intricate stitches, they weave not just threads but also stories of hope, healing, and empowerment.

When you buy a piece created by these young women, you are not only supporting their craft but also standing beside them as they rebuild their lives — one handmade creation at a time.
