“Don’t make an issue out of it.”

Make them uncomfortable.

They said—husbands are like that,
“It’s the wife who must adjust.”
“Compromise is a woman’s strength.”
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

They said—what if he hits you?
“Just once in a while.”
“If he calls you useless, don’t provoke him.”
“Try not to make him angry.”
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

They said—it must be your fault.
“He’s such a good man.”
“He could never do that.”
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

They said—what’s the big deal
“If he strayed?”
“Men will be men.”
“Forgive him. Move on.”
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

They said—he asked for forgiveness
(Though only to save face).
“Why be so stubborn?”
“A woman must be resilient… and forgiving.”
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

They said—you can’t live alone,
“You’ll never manage without a man.”
“You’re just a woman—too weak to survive.”
Show them how strong you are.
Break the silence.
Make them uncomfortable.

उन्होंने कहा— चुप रहो,
“शादी में ऐसा ही होता है।”
“तुम्हें सहना सीखना चाहिए।”
“हर बात को मुद्दा मत बनाओ।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— पति ऐसे ही होते हैं,
“पत्नी को ही समझौता करना पड़ता है।”
“औरत की पहचान ही सहनशीलता है।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— अगर वो हाथ उठा दे,
“तो क्या हुआ, कभी-कभी हो जाता है।”
“अगर वो तुम्हें बेकार कह दे, तो चुप रहो।”
“उसे गुस्सा मत दिलाओ।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— गलती तुम्हारी ही रही होगी,
“वो बहुत अच्छा इंसान है।”
“वो ऐसा कुछ कर ही नहीं सकता।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— अगर उसका अफेयर था,
“तो क्या बड़ी बात है?”
“मर्दों की फितरत ही ऐसी होती है।”
“माफ करो और आगे बढ़ो।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— अगर वो माफी मांग रहा है
(चाहे सिर्फ दुनिया को दिखाने के लिए ही क्यों न हो),
“तो तुम इतनी ज़िद्दी क्यों हो?”
“एक औरत को सहनशील और माफ करने वाली होना चाहिए।”
चुप्पी तोड़ो।
उन्हें असहज कर दो।

उन्होंने कहा— तुम अकेली नहीं जी सकती,
“बिना मर्द के ज़िंदगी कैसे चलाओगी?”
“तुम तो औरत हो—कमज़ोर हो।”
उन्हें दिखाओ कि तुम क्या कर सकती हो!
